Hello Trekkers!
Kollur, at a distance of 450 Km from Bangalore is a place of natural wonders waiting to be discovered. It boasts places like a pristine waterfalls with a natural swimming pool, beautiful hills, evergreen forest, rich vegetation, different bird species, river streams, and nights so dark that even the Milky Way galaxy is visible after the moonset.
As part of this weekend trip to less known destination Kollur, we will take you on 2 different waterfall treks.
First in line is Arasinagundi waterfalls trek which is easily the best kept secret of Kollur sanctuary. It’s a moderate difficulty trek with a gradual ascent through the thick forest and ends with a rejuvenating dip in the streams with spine chilling water adjacent to the waterfalls.
The second thrilling trek is to another waterfall named Belkal Theertha. This holy waterfall is also known as Govinda theertha which falls from a height of approximately 300 feet from Korshi betta, an extension of Kodachadri mounain. Belkal Theertha is located in the protected Mookambika Wildlife sanctuary near Kollur and is free of any kind of pollution.
One needs to trek through thick forest for 4 km crossing numerous streams. The refreshing view of the water flowing down through the rocks takes away all your exhaustion.
We will also witness the green carpeted Nagara fort while returning back.
Camping in the serene environment of Kollur sanctuary is a surreal experience. On certain days when the sky is clear, we can get to see millions of stars. The social gathering around a bonfire and delicious veggie food is cherry on the top.
