Tawang FAQs

đź”° How about mobile network on my Tawang trip?

👉 Jio works better in Arunachal. Airtel & Vodafone are little bit up and down.
👉 At most homestays we get good 4G internet.
👉 But while traveling between places, signal may disappear in the middle for few hours.
👉 We observed signal blackouts in earlier trips only in case of inclement weather conditions (like cyclone, heavy rain).

đź”° What kind of clothes I should pack as per season?

👉 Tawang is very cold throughout the year. Carry sweaters, monkey caps, sweat shirts and thick socks to protect from chill winds at high altitude. It feels more colder when it rains or snows.
👉 High Himalayan passes like SeLa pass and BumLa pass are extremely cold.
👉 It is advised to check weather forecast and carry a rain proof Jacket or a Poncho.
👉 Please refer “Things to Pack” section on our website for more details.

đź”°How many times I can get wet in water?

👉 With the chilling temperature of Himalayan water, it’s not practical to get in water. However, you can put your feet under water at Jang Waterfalls (Day 5).

đź”°Can I get a trolley?

Tempo Traveller (group size 7 or more):
👉 No. Backpacks are recommended.
👉 We need to put luggage inside Tempo. That means limited luggage space.
👉 Trolleys occupy lots of space. Backpacks can be easily arranged at the backside of the vehicle by our Driver.

Hatchback/SUV (group size 6 or less):
👉 You can carry trolleys also
👉 We usually have lugagge carrier on top of vehicle.
👉 But please remember you have to carry it from vehicle to your room everywhere. There is no Porter service for any of our trips.

đź”° Will I need to carry my backpack every day?

👉 No. We will either put in vehicle or at stays. There is no trekking involved in this trip.

đź”°How long are our journeys on average? Is it very tiresome?

👉 Distance wise, we will be covering 1000+ kilometers in 6 days. But since most of the journey is through the curvy roads of Himalayan mountains, the journeys can be tiring. Having said that, the BRO (Border Roads Organization) has done a fantastic job to build and maintain roads in the best possible way.

👉 Our vehicles are usually comfortable SUVs or Tempos based on number of people.

👉 We will take ample breaks in between our journey for different reasons like taking photos, Lunches, etc.

👉 We insist & request guests to keep rotating between seats of front and back.

đź”° What kind of stays we have & room combinations?

👉 Tawang is known for it’s cozy Homestays and friendly hosts who serve delicious food. So we mostly prefer homestays during this trip, but sometimes guest houses (hotels) based on availability.
👉 Rooms combination are usually 3 or 4 sharing in Tawang trip. Sometimes we may give 2 sharing based on combinations.
👉 Depending on group setup, our Operations Manager will assign rooms. It’s not possible to take any special requests.

đź”° Do I need to carry my own Blanket, Pillow or Sleeping Bag?

👉 No, you don’t need to carry. We will provide thick blankets & other basic things at our homestays.

đź”° Do we get room heaters at the stays in winter?

👉 No. We do not provide room heaters.
👉 Based on availability of room heaters, the guests can take them for rent from the Homestay. It’s usually 200-300 per night.

đź”° What kind of food is available? I am a pure vegetarian, will I get veggies?

👉 Breakfasts served at our homestays are usually Poori, Plain Paratha with veg curry, or Aloo Paratha and sometimes even Maggy, Eggs.

👉 Lunches are always on the way at remote areas. There might be limited options, so we need to be flexible and adjust. Our drivers know where to stop on each day as per the speed of the group.

👉 Dinners: You can order Dinner at the stays. Most stays serve basic Veg/Nonveg good like Dal Roti Rice and Sabzi. Some stays can even prepare local Tawang specials.

👉 Please carry some cash for meals. UPI may not work everywhere.

đź”° Explain about last point of "Exclusions" list?

❌ Any extra cost arising due to any change in the itinerary/stay on account of bad weather, traffic-congestion, landslides/roadblocks, natural calamities, political disturbances and/or any other factors beyond organizers’ control.

Let’s consider following random example (it never happened before):
Assume for some unexpected reason Tawang to Dirang return route traffic movement is blocked. Since we cannot go to Dirang now, we need to return to Tawang. Since we need to book fresh stay in Tawang, travelers have to bear this extra stay/food expense.

👉 There can be more such scenarios/examples. We cannot rule out such scenarios in himalayas/mountains, especially with Global warming & Climate change. But the probability of occurance is very rare.
👉 This is a universal rule of tourism industry. Nothing special about our company.

đź”° Can I visit places other than itinerary?

👉 No, we already have handpicked best places in Tawang that can be covered in 6 days. It’s not possible to add places or change itinerary unless an unexpected situation happens.

đź”° Who is responsible for running the Itinerary?

👉 For smaller group size of 6 or less guests (Car or SUV), a combination of Driver (real time) & Operations Manager (online) will run the itinerary.

👉 For bigger groups with more than 7 guests (Tempo traveller), the Trip Captain will be responsible to run the itinerary.

đź”° What are the group etiquettes we need to follow?

👉 Please help each other and be kind to one another. On a budget backpacking group trip like this, it’s important to put personal priorities aside and go along with the group.

👉 Please do not argue with co-travelers or Driver or Locals in Arunachal. If you need anything then politely request but not demand. Give respect and take respect.

👉 Finally do read “Terms & Conditions” of your Tawang trip. If anyone violates the Terms in a way that causes inconvenience to Co-travelers or hinders smooth running of the trip, the company won’t tolerate and an immediate action will be taken.
