Itinerary of Sri Lanka Group Trip

Day 1 - Colombo Airport – Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage – Sigiriya

Touch down in Sri Lanka and hit the road straight away. After a warm welcome at Colombo International Airport, we drive inland towards the cultural heart of the island. Our first stop is the famous Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, where rescued elephants roam, bathe, and feed together along the riverbanks — a gentle and memorable introduction to Sri Lanka.

Post lunch, the road winds through sleepy villages and lush countryside as we make our way to Sigiriya. Check in, freshen up, and spend the evening at leisure soaking in the calm rural vibes beneath the looming rock fortress.

Day 2 - Sigiriya – Sigiriya Rock Fortress – Dambulla Cave Temple – Sigiriya

An early start today, because legends await. We begin with the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site rising dramatically out of the plains. Climb past ancient frescoes, mirror walls, and lion paws to reach the summit — rewarded with sweeping views and stories of kings, ambition, and engineering brilliance.

Later, we head to the sacred Dambulla Cave Temple, a complex of rock caves adorned with centuries‑old murals and serene Buddha statues. The atmosphere here is quiet, spiritual, and timeless.

Return to Sigiriya by evening. Relax, take a dip, or just watch the sunset paint the countryside gold.

Overnight in Sigiriya

Day 3 - Sigiriya – Pidurangala Rock – Kandy – Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic – Kandyan cultural dance & drumming show

Before the day heats up, we hike Pidurangala Rock — a short but rewarding climb offering one of the best sunrise views of Sigiriya Rock itself. Raw, peaceful, and less crowded, this is a traveller’s favourite.

After breakfast, we drive towards the hill capital Kandy, passing forests, spice gardens, and winding roads. On arrival, we visit the revered Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of Buddhism’s most important pilgrimage sites.

In the evening, experience a burst of colour and rhythm at a Kandyan cultural dance and drumming show, showcasing Sri Lanka’s traditional performing arts.

Overnight in Kandy

Day 4 - Kandy – Ramboda Falls, Lover’s Leap – Tea plantation – Ella

Leaving Kandy behind, we journey deep into Sri Lanka’s hill country. En route, stop at the scenic Ramboda Falls, where water tumbles down misty cliffs, followed by the dramatic viewpoint at Lover’s Leap.

We then walk through rolling tea plantations, learning how the world‑famous Ceylon tea goes from leaf to cup — with a fresh brew to end the visit.

By evening, arrive in the laid‑back mountain town of Ella, surrounded by peaks, valleys, and cool air.

Overnight in Ella

Day 5 - Ella local sightseeing (Nine Arches Bridge, Ella Club, Little Adam’s Peak)

Today is slow, scenic, and local. Start with a visit to the iconic Nine Arches Bridge, best enjoyed on foot as trains glide gracefully across the arches.

Later, hike up Little Adam’s Peak — an easy walk with big rewards. Panoramic views of tea fields and valleys stretch as far as the eye can see.

Spend the rest of the day exploring Ella town — cafés, viewpoints, or simply doing nothing at all.

Overnight in Ella

Day 6: Ella – Ravana Falls – Mirissa

We descend from the hills towards the southern coast. On the way, stop at the powerful Ravana Falls, steeped in legend and perfect for photos.

Continue the drive to Mirissa, where palm trees sway and the Indian Ocean greets us. Evening is free — beach walks, sunset views, or seafood dinners by the shore.

Overnight in Mirissa

Day 7: Mirissa – Galle Fort – Turtle Hatchery – Hikkaduwa

After breakfast, head to the historic Galle Fort, a UNESCO‑listed colonial town with cobbled streets, old ramparts, cafés, and ocean views.

Later, visit a Turtle Hatchery, where conservation efforts help protect Sri Lanka’s sea turtles.

Continue north to Hikkaduwa, a lively beach town known for coral reefs, golden sands, and relaxed vibes.

Overnight in Hikkaduwa

Day 8: Madu River boat safari, back to Columbo, Drop off at Airport.

Begin the final day with a serene Madu River boat safari, gliding through mangroves, islands, and quiet backwaters — a peaceful farewell to Sri Lanka’s natural beauty.

Post safari, drive back towards Colombo and onward to the airport, carrying stories of ancient kingdoms, misty hills, and sun‑kissed beaches.
