Thekkady: For wildlife and nature enthusiasts, Thekkady offers a unique experience with the lush Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, where boat rides on Periyar Lake allow visitors to observe elephants, sambar deer, and a wide variety of bird species.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival at Kochi/Ernakulam, Transfer to Munnar & Sightseeing

Meet our driver at Kochi Airport or Ernakulam Railway Station.
After freshening up, begin your scenic journey to Munnar (approx. 4 hours drive). The lush tea gardens and cool weather of Munnar are a perfect start for the trip.
Stop by at 2nd Mile view point, enjoy breathtaking views.
Check into Munnar stay, refresh. Have Lunch.
Visit picturesque Rose Garden of Munnar and take loads of pictures.
Give a viist to Tea Garden, one of the major attractions in Munnar.
Return to stay, finish Dinner and take rest.

Day 2 - Munnar sightseeing, journey to Thekkedy, Elephant Junction, Spice Garden

Have Breakfast, freshen up & check out.
Visit Mattupetty Dam, and go for boating amidst beauful hills if you wish.
Go on a drive to Munnar Top Station which is the highest point of Munnar. It’s a stunning viewpoint that offers a wide, sweeping view of the surrounding hills, making it a must-visit for nature lovers and tourists.
Start scenic drive to Thekkady (approx. 3 hours). The route is surrounded by spice plantations, so you may want to stop and visit a Spice Garden along the way.
Visit Elephant Junction of Thekkedy and take a peaceful ride on an elephant through scenic pathways surrounded by lush forests and spice plantations.
Check in to our guest house in Thekkady, refresh.
Dinner & rest.

Day 3 - Periyar Lake Boating, Journey to Aleppey Backwaters, House Boat Stay

After Breakfast, head to Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary and take a boat cruise on Periyar Lake. Spot wildlife like elephants, sambar deer, birds, and possibly even tigers along the lake’s shores.
Check out of Thekkedy stay, start journey towards Alleppey which is famous for its network of canals, rivers, and backwaters.
Check into your private Aleppey Houseboat. Houseboats typically come with a bedroom, dining area, and deck for viewing the scenic surroundings.
Go on a relaxing journey in the evening through the picturesque Aleppey Backwaters as your houseboat glides past lush paddy fields, coconut groves, and small village settlements.
Enjoy a traditional Kerala Dinner on board with freshly prepared local dishes all prepared by the onboard chef.
Rest for the night.

Day 4 - Varkala Beach & Cliff

After a nice Breakfast on the house boat, we will start our journey from Alleppey to Varkala which is about 3 hours drive from Jatayu Earth Center (approx. 35 km).
Upon arrival check into the Varkala stay, enjoy lunch at one of the cliffside restaurants overlooking Varkala Beach. There are plenty of options for fresh seafood and local Kerala cuisine.
Stroll along the Varkala cliff, enjoy the view of the Arabian Sea, and explore the local shops selling souvenirs and handmade goods.
Relax on the golden sands, swim, or enjoy the seaside vibe of Varkala Beach. If possible, witness a beautiful sunset.
Finish Dinner and rest.

Day 5 - OPTION A - Jatayu Earth Center, Aleppey Beach/Lighthouse, Drop at Kochi/Ernakulam

After breakfast at Varkala stay, start your journey to Jatayu Earth Center.
Take a scenic cable car ride up to the center for panoramic views. Admire the majestic sculpture of Jatayu, a legendary character from the Ramayana, and explore the interactive museum here.
Have Lunch enroute.
Visit Aleppey beach which is a beautiful stretch of shoreline lined with palm trees. Climb up the Alappuzha Lighthouse that offers breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea and the surrounding town.
Continue our journey back to Cochin. Get dropped at Kochi Airport or Ernakulam Railway station as per your choice.

Day 5 - OPTION B - Trivandrum, Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Kovalam Beach, Drop at Trivandrum

After breakfast, check out of the Varkala stay and head to Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram), about a 1-hour drive (approx. 45 km).
Begin with a visit to Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, one of the richest and most revered temples in India. Dress conservatively, as this temple has specific dress code requirements for visitors.
Head to Kovalam Beach, one of Kerala’s most popular beaches, known for its lighthouse and crescent-shaped shores.
(Optional) Explore the Vizinjam Lighthouse. Enjoy the panoramic views of Arabian sea from the top.
Head back to Trivandrum by evening. Our Driver shall drop you at Trivandrum Airport or Railway Station as per your choice.

How to Book this trip?

50% amount has to be paid to confirm the trip.
Remaining 50% shall be paid at the beginning of the trip after boarding vehicle.

What's next after booking your trip?

Operations Manager will get in touch with you close to the trip dates.
A Whatsapp group will be created few days before to coordinate everything.
Instructions about itinerary, places, stays, timings, any special scenarios etc., will be given in the same group during the trip.

Terms & Conditions

The itinerary of the event is fixed. No special requests to change itinerary/schedule shall be entertained.
Guests are expected to respect and follow the instructions of both the Driver and the Operations Manager to ensure a safe, timely, and smooth execution of the planned itinerary.
Each guest is responsible for their own safety and well-being throughout the trip. We strongly advise against engaging in any illegal, irresponsible, or careless behavior that could potentially cause harm to themselves, fellow travelers, or local communities.
Consumption of alcohol and smoking is strictly prohibited during the journey and all outdoor activities. Guests may indulge in alcohol/smoking moderately and responsibly at the stay during night hours, ensuring it does not disturb others or affect the trip experience.
The use of foul or abusive language, issuing threats, or engaging in any form of physical assault is strictly prohibited. Such behavior may lead to immediate action, including the possibility of filing a formal complaint with local Police Station.
Unexpected situations like bad weather, landslides, wildlife activity, traffic delays, or sudden site closures by authorities may impact the planned itinerary. In most cases, if time permits, our Operations Manager will suggest alternate options. However, in some cases, no alternatives may be available. No refunds will be provided in such scenarios, as these are beyond our control.
All travel and accommodation arrangements are non-AC by default across our Private trips. The specific differences between Standard and Deluxe packages are clearly outlined in the Stay section of each event.
All guests are required to digitally sign a liability waiver provided by the Operations Manager prior to the trip, along with uploading any necessary ID proofs required for permits. This waiver releases Muddie Trails from any legal responsibility in the event of unforeseen circumstances such as injury, loss, theft, or death during the course of the trip.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation by Guests

80% refund if a cancellation request is sent 30 days before the trip start date.
50% refund if a cancellation request is sent between 30 to 15 days before the trip start date.
An email has to be sent to muddietrails@gmail.com to raise a cancellation request.
No refund within 15 days of the event start time whatever is the reason (Health, COVID, Accident, Family crisis, Office issue, or anything else).
No refund during/after the event.
No refund on the partial payment (advance) done to block your seat for the trip.

Cancellation due to external factors

If the event has to be cancelled due to external factors that are beyond our control like – Natural Disasters, Extreme Weather Conditions, Red Alerts, Political Disturbances, War, Bandh/Curfews, Local Issues, Covid-19 or any other disease outbreaks etc..

In such scenarios:

No Refund is applicable.
100% trip amount can be used for future dates.
