About Dandeli River Rafting:

Rafting-in- winter

Dandeli, a place in Karnataka, is famous for exciting activities, especially thrilling white water rafting on the Kali River. Get ready for an amazing ride down the river, which can be just as exciting as rafting on the famous Ganges River. But there’s more to do in Dandeli than just rafting. You can also enjoy activities like boating, kayaking, and bird watching, so everyone can find something they like.

The rafting route on the Kali River is 12 kilometers long and goes through dense forests, with rapids ranging from medium to difficult. It usually takes about 3 to 4 hours, including transportation to the starting point. Get ready for an adventure that you’ll remember for a long time!

How to reach Dandeli?

By Air: Dandeli is accessible via the nearest airport in Belgaum, approximately 90 km away. Belgaum is well-connected through domestic flights. Upon arrival, taxis and buses are readily available from the airport. Another convenient option is Dabolim airport in Goa.

By Train: Unfortunately, Dandeli itself doesn’t boast a railway station. However, fret not, as the closest railway stations are Londa (36km away), Alnavar, Hubli (80km away), and Dharwad (57km away). From any of these stations, you can continue your journey either by hiring a taxi or catching a bus to Dandeli.

By Road: You have the option to either drive your own vehicle or avail of cab services from these cities or nearby towns. If traveling from Bengaluru, you can board a KSRTC or private bus directly to Dandeli from the capital. Alternatively, you can opt for a bus from Bengaluru to Hubli and then proceed with a connecting cab or bus to reach Dandeli.

Summer Season: During the summer in Dandeli, it’s not too hot, making it the second-best time to visit. Many people come here to escape the heat of the cities. Even though it’s summer, Dandeli isn’t crowded, so you have lots of space to explore and see the sights. This is a good time for wildlife lovers because animals come out looking for water, and the rivers in the sanctuary attract lots of colorful birds. In May, it gets the hottest, with temperatures between 20°C to 34°C.

Monsoon Season: When the monsoon season comes to Dandeli, it brings heavy rains, so it’s not a popular time for tourists. You might end up spending more time inside, watching the rain from your place. But even with the rain, the lush greenery and full lakes make the place look beautiful, and some people are tempted to visit during this time, especially if they’re romantics. However, it’s not great for birdwatching. Don’t forget to bring raincoats and umbrellas because temperatures range from 21°C to 28°C during this time.

Winter Season: Winter is the best time to visit Dandeli. From January to March, as winter turns into summer, it’s a great time for birdwatching. You can also do exciting things like white water rafting on the Kali River, go on adventurous hikes, or see the waterfalls, which are full from the rainy season. Days in winter are pleasant and breezy, but nights can be cold. Temperatures range from 16°C to 30°C, and January is the coldest month.
